Using ALT Tags
When uploading images to ExactTarget, be sure to use the alt tag as a way to reach the customer if their images are turned off in their email application. This helps you get across the message you initially wanted the image to say. Heres a great example of good use of alt tags.

Notice how although you dont see the images, you can make a good guess on what that image is whether or not you choose to allow them to download.
To make an ALT tag
If you're using Adobe Dreamweaver, the process is simple. Simply drag your image onto the stage, and it automatically pops up a box that allows you to enter in your copy. See below:
Another good reason to use ALT tags is to make your site accessible to those with disabilities, such as the blind. This makes it easier for them to navigate your site.
ALT Tags were designed for a reason--to help you put your best foot forward even if the majority of your users will probably never know the significance. The next time you use an image, stop and place in an ALT tag!
