Does your image fit the article correctly?

Selecting Images

When selecting images for your marketing communication materials, it is necessary that the image fit the article to give it the extra emphasis that it needs. Rather than choosing stock to take up real estate on your page, select good stock that really brings the message home.

How do you select an image? Thoroughly read your article and select keywords that can help you select the right image. If keywords don't help you, draw on a theme that can help. For example, if you are writing about tax laws, it might be worth the effort to read some of the law and gather ideas from that.

Where the image doesn't fit

When your are giving a status on a project, it can be draining to see pages and pages of numbers. Liven up your presentation by using animation. Visitors will welcome the chance to take part in a working document. Build intensity for the next piece by sending out an updated image every week or so. Take a look at one of CareerBuilder.com's latest articles. While the image is great, it really doesn't fit this article. It actually looks more like someone that is sneezing.
