How to develop an email marketing tracking report using WebTrends
Insert an invisible image into the HTML email
Insert an invisible image into the HTML using the following URL. This URL will stay the same, but everything after the question mark will change according to what campaign it is. See below:URL.gif(or.jpg)?source=NAME OF CAMPAIGN (no spaces-- can only have letters, numbers, and underscores)
Tracking the file and/or link attached
If there is only one file and/or link in the document, use this link:URL.pdf?source=CAMPAIGN NAME_click
However, if there is more than one link, both have to have the same source and underscore and a different indicator for each:
URL?source=cgnewsletter_pdf
url.pdf?source=cgnewsletter_survey
url.pdf?source=cgnewsletter_survey
Remember No SPACES, NO SPECIAL CHARACTERS—ONLY LETTERS, NUMBERS, AND UNDERSCORES....
Tracking codes:
